What it does

From our copy, or live

For the Netherlands, freshness decides where a profile comes from:

  • cached: from our own copy, with its age. The cheapest option.
  • live: fetched from the KvK right now, which also refreshes our copy.
  • auto (the default): our copy when it’s younger than max_age_days, otherwise live.

You pay for what you get, so with auto the price depends on how old our copy is. Every answer tells you in source where the data came from, when the register supplied it, and the attribution the register requires.

Dutch data: our own platforms only

Dutch company data comes from the KvK (the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce), and the KvK’s terms don’t allow us to pass that data on to others. So it’s only available to our own platforms, Informer.One and informer.eu. Every other account gets 403 register_restricted, with a test key too, so a test behaves the way live will.

Belgium: the KBO, updated daily

Belgian data comes from the open data of the KBO, the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises. We keep our own copy and update it every day. Every Belgian profile comes from that copy; we never query the KBO live. Companies that have ceased trading aren’t in the KBO data. Belgian data is available to every account.

Search by name, trade name or number: in the Netherlands live at the KvK, in Belgium in our copy. Every result points to the full profile.

Good to know

  • Show the attribution (source.notice) and the date (source.retrieved_at) wherever you display the data. The registers require it.
  • The KvK doesn’t supply VAT numbers. Check a VAT number with the VAT integration.
  • A Dutch number the KvK doesn’t know costs what the KvK charges us for the lookup, at cost. Any other “not found” is free.
